What to bring?

Long Underwear, shorts, flip flops or sandals of some sort, walking shoes, shorts, pants, 2 shirts, underwear, fleece or wool sweater, rain coat, rain pants if you have them, hat, sunglasses, toiletries, head lamp if you have one, and a book.
Comfortable clothing for the day. Wind breaker comfortable shoes or running shoes, water shoes if you want, but not required. We all wear Teva or Chaco sandals.

Paddle Pace? Level of difficulty?

Each group has it's own special pace. On group multi days we pair up everyone so we can all paddle in a good pace and with most comfort. Some folks like to stop and watch the wildlife for some extended time for photos and relaxation.

How to dress?

Varies on the day and will be determined day to day. Layering is always best and wicking materials that dry out quickly.

How much hiking will be required once we have reached our destination?

You can hike as much or as little as you would like. We have some amazing trails with outstanding magical views and some you cannot miss!!

We have extended kayak trips where we prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner as well as snacks. By request, we will make gluten free and dairy free meals, as well as vegan options. Orcas Outdoors Kayaking use all local grown organic food from our islands when possible, which also includs locally roasted coffee and grains.

Do the kayaks tip easy?

We have very stable family touring sea kayaks. You have to really work hard to make our boats tip over. We will make sure you feel the boats before you are set off on the water always with a guide and safe waters. We do not paddle in inclement water or forecasted bad weather. You will always have a guide with the group. We do not allow boat rentals unless a British 4 star card has been awarded.

Do we serve alcohol?

No, we do not serve or sell alcohol. If you want alcohol you must bring it for yourself as we do not provide alcohol.

Are kids okay to come along?

Kids are wonderful in our stable, double sea kayaks while the parents will be doing most of the paddling we will recommend a shorter duration for comfort and enjoyability. The youngest age allowed to go is 6 years old, however we have trips with boat support where younger ones and parents can meet out on remote island for camping.

Where to go to the bathroom?

Most of our remote camp sites have composting toilets and drinking water.

What animals will I see?

A.
The wildlife we will see varies from whales, otters, minks, seals, sea lions, sea stars, many many amazing birds, Porpoise, sea cucumbers, eagles, great blue herons, and much much more. The viewing is safe and we keep a calm distance as to not disturb the wildlife. Also you never know what you will get to see each and every day as we have no schedule of the animals and their paths.

You are welcome to bring your own snacks and we will provide dry bags.
